Abstract:

Assymetric epoxidation of various derivatives of benzopyran lead to the discovery of a newer molecules using substituted phenols as the starting material. Reaction of these stereo active molecules were allowed to react with known Benzoxazines gave derivatives which are more potent than the existing Cromokalims. Assymetric epoxidation was carried out using Jacobsens catalyst. These compounds were successfully resolved using Polarimeter. We describe the synthesis and pharmacological activity of these optically active molecules. When tested on the rat aortic ring precontracted with phelyepenephrine, most of the compounds showed concentration-dependent relaxation and decrease in the Blood pressure to that of the reference drug. Some compounds showed moderate and some were inactive.
